UK MARKETPLACE LENDER LENDY RECEIVES FCA AUTHORIZATION: UK-based marketplace lender Lendy has been granted full authorization from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Last year, the FCA started authorizing alt lenders at a quicker pace, and three major alt lenders — Funding Circle, Zopa, and Ratesetter – have since received full authorization from the regulator. This authorization allows alt lenders to offer new services, such as IFISAs, and Lendy is looking into offering innovative new products and services that are in line with what the FCA permits. Being authorized by the FCA enables Lendy to diversify its product suite, which will probably enhance the customer experience and help it to compete with the big alt lenders in the country. However, others like Zopa launched their IFISAs last year, which means that Lendy will be behind. This might make uptake lower, as customers may have already chosen to go with another provider.
